Your Questions About 2 Bedroom Apartments In Los Angeles

August 8, 2013

Nancy asks…

is gas heat more expensive than ceramic electric space heater? (Los Angeles, CA. 2-bedroom apartment)?

Two bedrom apartment. Los Angeles, CA. Second floor. Installed gas-heating unit vs portable ceramic electric heater.

Which has a cheaper operating cost? The gas heater more expensive (in utility bills) than the ceramic, electric space heater?

Administrator answers:

Electricity is the least efficient source of heat. Go with gas all the way.

Ken asks…

2 and 3 Bedroom apartment in west Los Angeles CA?

I WANT A 2 AND 3 BEDROOM APPARTMENT IN WEST LOS ANGELES CA
THAT INCLUDES…
POOL
FITNESS
PARKING
GOOD AREA

IT DOESNT HAVE TO INCLUDE THEM THOUGH

AROUND $1000-$1500

THANKS

Administrator answers:

An older one bedroom, no amenities, certainly no pool or gym, is going to run you $1200+ in West LA in a sketchy area, $1500+ in a nicer area of West LA, more in a desirable neighborhood.

You should be able to find an older 3 bedroom in Van Nuys starting at about $1500, you might even get a small pool, definite possibility if you go up to $2000. Of course, the neighborhood won’t be the best.

You’d have a tough time finding a decent one bedroom anywhere in LA for under $1200 a month, because that is about the Section 8 voucher amount, welfare housing help for the poorest people in LA. So if in the poorest neighborhoods, a landlord can get a guaranteed almost $1200 for a one bedroom, of course they’re going to charge that much, and more desirable areas are going to cost more. (Section 8 wait list is closed, it was years long.)

Good luck!

Robert asks…

What’s the average price to rent an apartment (1 & 2 bedroom) in Los Angeles & Are there “ghetto” areas in LA?

My dream has always been to attend college in LA, although I’ve never been there before. I just want to get some real info about the area.

thanks.

Administrator answers:

It’s expensive to rent in L.A.
You be REAL careful what area you decide on.
There are more seedy areas in the L.A. Basin
than there are nice areas.
Not that all “seedy” areas are “ghetto” but you
need to be careful non-the-less.
Especially being alone and not from the area.
Good Luck.

Mark asks…

what is the electricity & water average for los angeles california for a 2 bedroom apartment?

2 bedroom apartment in the mid-wilshire apartment.

Administrator answers:

It really depends on how much you use.
If you use anything with a heater coil, expect to pay more. (Flat iron for example)
Air conditioning and dehumidifiers are expensive to run as well.
