Your Questions About Apartment Address Line

September 27, 2012

Chris asks…

what happens if you dont put the apartment letter on second line when registering for something online?

will they mail it to the wrong people? does it really matter? what happens if you dont put the apartment letter on second line when registering for something online. instead you put the apartment number on the same row as address.

Administrator answers:

If your postman/woman is familiar with who lives where, he/she may deliver it to the correct address. Otherwise, it will probably get returned to the sender, who will then contact you about an incomplete address. If you ever actually see your postal delivery person, go talk to him/her and say that you are expecting a delivery, but you forgot to put the letter on it. They can then be on the lookout for it, so it gets delivered.

Steven asks…

How to properly write a home address? line 1? line 2?

Hello,

I’m to receive a MasterCard via regular mail, they asked me to provide:

Street Address Line 1 (limit to 30 characters):
Street Address Line 2 (limit to 30 characters):
City/State:
Country:
Zip Code:

So, what are line 1 and line 2? which one contains building number? buildings-group name, apartment number, street, etc.?

Please provide a simple example.
Thank you!

Administrator answers:

It’s typically best to put the apartment number on line 2 if you have one. This is because some companies printing mail only have a certain number of characters; if the apartment number is on line one it may get cut off and mail might not reach you.

Example:
100 Main St.
Apt 111
