Your Questions About Apartment Ads In New York

January 25, 2013

Mark asks…

I need some help, I love him too much and he broke up with me?

I posted before about me being with my bf on a 3 year relationship. The other day when I got home I checked his cell phone and I saw that he was talking to this guy regarding meeting up at a bookstore and telling him how hard he was and he wanted to trade pictures with him. I confronted him about it but he got so upset that he threw me out of the apartment. I left the apartement yesterday and as soon as I got out he posted an ad on Craigslist to get a hook up. I was heart broken to see that he couldn’t even wait for me to be out of New York.

I feel like I really have nothing to live for, some people my think I’m a drama queen but I really really love him and I don’t what to do, now I’m in California with my family but all I can think of its him. Nothing else but him.

I promised myself that I would ever meet anyone anymore since I really love him and he is the love of my life. I need someone to talk to and I don’t have friends I could speak to about all this.

Please help, I’m dying

Administrator answers:

You are NOT dying.

I am in the same boat, just the locations are different. Mine has not posted on Craig’s list (yet), but who knows.

What you are is heartbroken. Sometimes, no matter how hard we try, no matter what we are willing to forgive or overlook to make something work, sometimes it just doesn’t work. The idea that your love for him wasn’t enough, or that he didn’t love you in the first place, or that he fell out of love with you…. They all hurt you to the core. Believe me, I understand you pain. Right there with ya man.

But tommorrow, or maybe the next day, or maybe one day next week, the sun will come up for you. This guy WILL wake up one day and realize what he has lost and regret it. You may or may not know about it when it happens, but it WILL happen. In the meantime, you and I both have to move forward to better things. Bro, if it was meant to be for the two of you, it would have happened. This just means that there is something better down the road for you AND me. We’re gonna be fine….. Eventually.

In the meantime, take some time to get to know yourself, understand yourself, and love yourself. There ARE some good men out there who are worthy of your time. You just have to be patient… They are a little tough to find sometimes. Actually, most of the time, they find you.

Best of luck to you Bro…. And know… You and I…. We’re not alone.

Michael asks…

I am stuck in a BIG pickle any advice?

I have alot on my plate right now. I am 17 and i live in new york. I am prety much homeless because my family doesnt care about me. I am living with my boyfriend and he beats me. Really bad. but i dont know what else to do. I have 1 place to stay and i am not exxagerating and i can only stay for like a week or 2 until i could possibly get to the rest o my family in florida but nobody has the funds to do it. I left my boyfriends house earlier and i am staying where i can for the next couple weeks but dont have any money to get myself to florida plus i really enjoy my job and it took me forever just to get one. I am staying about a half hour drive away form work ad with the prices of gas asking for rides is hard and theres no buses to get me there without alot of walking.so should i stick it out and stay with the boyfriend until i have enough money saved up to find an apartment or should i leave and pray that someone gets money for me to get away??????
SOMEONE PLEASE HELP!!!!

Administrator answers:

First of all you have to get out of there..because its not safe, its not happyness even if it means risking what you have…i know the situation is hard but girl you got to step up to him and let him know you aint gonna put up with this..take a stand and let him respect you or step on out, cuz that aint worth living there for.

Stay in that place for the two weeks and save up all that you can, now lock this money up in a safe place and if you decide to move back in then safe money & take a stand for yourself. Dont be afraid, you have made it this far putting up with all his bull then you shouldnt b afraid be tuff girl, god is with you and watching over you.

Please make the right choice because no women should be treated this way…

Best of luck & wishes…

Laura asks…

should I share a room with man?

Okay, so the time has come to move out from my parents’ house and find a place for myself. I’m looking for places close to my college, and just about every ad I’m looking at has a man for a roommate. May be I’m old fashioned, or just hyper insecure, but the idea of sharing a house with a man just creeps me out. I mean, I’m sure most men are decent and mind their own business, but I’m just a little afraid of the idea. If I actually knew the guy and he was my college friend, then I’d be fine with it. But the idea of a men almost ten or fifteen years older than me makes me a little scared.
Any suggestions? This is in New York City, if that helps. Please tell me if I’m just being childish. Are there other girls out there who share apartments with boys/men?
Thanks

Administrator answers:

There are plenty of girls out there but they are total $!u#$. You are right to be protective of yourself-epically in the city you live in! What you should do is interview the men and maybe hang out with them a few times to see if you trust them. Then check out the apartment and make sure that you feel comfortable with the setup-such as, would you have your own room or is there just a room divider?

Sharon asks…

Where to look for apartments sold by owners?

ive been looking at craigslist and there are some decent ads. i had a couple friends refer me to it because they got their places from craigslist. it seems like the best place to find places from no-fee brokers or even better by the owners.

i live in nyc btw. the mid-town/upper east side area to be specific. im going to be living way up the east side (not harlem though. not that far lol) im probably going to live in brooklyn or queens my senior year though. queens definitely seems to have more for your money apartments. i went to go see this one place i found on craigslist and i fell in love but the parents are determined to make me wait.

so are there any other places to find no-fee brokers for the new york area or apartments sold by owners directly? also are there any cons to not wasting money on a broker??

Administrator answers:

U better be rich. One slip can cost you more than 1-2 yrs profits.

I vote for hiring a buyer’s RE agent.

But NY seems to prefer paying attys for everything in NY.

Administrator answers:

Try your local real estate office, that legal and listed, or walk around the areas you wanna live in.
