Mary asks…

Canada To the United States A Good Idea……?

Okay I have a friend we both live in canada we are canadian citizens, rent here is fair I mean you can get a spacios two bedroom for 7 to 800.00 dollars , a condo probably 1200 a month the jobs ok but finding Sucess(Singing,Rapping,Acting) Sucks. She said theres no oppurtunity over here I AGREE and the states Is Cheaper (Atlanta ) or (New York)DISAGREE . Can someone who lives in the states please tell me the disadventage of rent or the space in the apartments and the living cost please . She thinks she knows everytihng I ‘m just looking out for her.
Oh by the way She wants to or Is going to move to the Uniited States.

Administrator answers:

A two bedroom apartment in a lower end Manhattan neighborhood will cost you about $2500 a month. You won’t be able to get a job without the proper paperwork, and they won’t approve the paperwork for a singer.

Please don’t come to the US illegally. There are enough illegals in the US, not all of them are Mexican there is a fair share of Canadians also.

Paul asks…

Castle Hill, Bronx New York?

Okay I am 20 years old and in the next year or so I plan on moving to New York. I was thinking Castle Hill. Is it a good area? Cost is definitely a huge factor for me, so I want a decent apartment for a cheap price

I read a review online that said that if you look like an outsider, meaning non latino, then you are treated as such. Don’t be mad, I read this online, and I have no idea! Living in a mostly latino area doesn’t bother me at all!! I know I would stand out, I just don’t want to be treated badly or singled out.

Safety is my 2nd biggest issue. I want to live alone. Would I be safe walking around?? Like I said, I heard that you are not treated well if you are caucasian. (i am a blonde, 4’11 girl, idk) I am from Atlanta if that makes a difference either.

Please just tell me as much as you know about Castle Hill. Anything!! The more info the better!!! And if you know of a specific apartment complex that is nice, please tell me about it!! Thank you for your help! Please no mean comments. Any advice is appreciated!!!!

Administrator answers:

I live in castle hill and its a great place to live. Has a very residential feel. There is laundry, trains, resturants etc everything is near by. Please know that all apartment complexes require a waiting list. You cant just apply today and get a apt next month. There is Park Lane, Stevenson Commons and several major apartments along castle hill but some dont have specific names like the ones i just mentioned.

The area is very safe If you need any help or more suggestions email me: thwbbc12@yahoo.com . I am more than happy to help and
hmm will you be bothered, depends if you are a very attractive person you will have a lot of guys trying to get your number. There is a certain trait that you will develop once you live here. Certain things might sound crazy as you read it but live here for 1 year and you will be a changed person. You will be on your feet and things that would bother other people wont bother you. You will be safe believe me.

Chris asks…

Which state would you choose 10pts to best answer?

ive been to newyork before (ridgewood queens) and enjoyed the hell out of it!
but it just seems so expensive housing.. my family owns several homes in florida life is just cheaper here no taxes like in NY. but something just draws me to the city
So i am nearly out of college (for medical masters in pediatrics) i am 24 years old, i currently live in florida and was born here.
my two choices are
California which ive never been too
or
New york

i think i just love the city sights, sounds everything about it, ive always loved big cities (atlanta, orlando,Cincinnati) but ive been searching at price of houses in NY and its INSANE. 500k+ and the outside is so simple and such small back yards,
Cali seems to be too much florida (at least in my opinion from tv)
in florida i could have a pretty decent life style with my income base (90k) but it seems like unless i rent a apartment in NY i couldnt be able to afford anything.
YOUR OPINION PLEASE WHICH PLACE WOULD YOU CHOOSE, AND WHY!!!!!!!!!!
your opinion on which would be better to raise children

Administrator answers:

You should deff. Go with Cali,
born in San Diego,CA but raised in Wisc. Now i live in Fl too
but always wanted to go back to Cali.
FL n CA are somewhat a like but totally different.
I always traveled back to Cali, there just something different about it.
People seem a little more frienddlier the hospitality is warm.
I like it theres so much to do out there and a lot to see, its close to Mexico, incase u wanna take a trip out there, Beaches are great, i think over all its a great place to explore and in the future raise a family. I recommende it and if u get a chance visit it first.

Best schools, prices on housing and transportation to NYC would be NJ. NY hospitals are consistently on the top rankings but some NJ hospitals are not far behind but you could live in NJ, work in Ny ( as about 1/3 rd do now) & have the best of both worlds. Plus we have 4 seasons which I love; some very old & charming towns, better home prices, and very good school systems ( you would check this out anyway -right?)

On your salary you would do very well here in NJ but it would probably be wiser to rent in a community for 1 year while you research an area to see if you like it.

And, the NJ Shore beats Florida beaches – I’ve been to both.
