Ken asks…

Air force base apartments on Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX?

Okay so my husband is in the “air force reserves” anyways after his graduation I was thinking that I could maybe go out there and stay while he’s doing his schooling, which is almost 3 months… :( But since he’s in the reserve is an apartment on the base still avaliable to me for those two and a half months that he’s at school? If so, how much are they? And if not…any other cheap alternatives to staying in one of their apartments? Like do other apartments complex’s give deals to the military spouse who’s staying in their apartments>

Administrator answers:

They do not have apartments available on Lackland. Students do not qualify for base housing.

I’m not sure if you are aware that you would only be able to see him on the weekends the first two weeks of tech school and you can’t go into his room. You would only be able to see him a few hours each week. You might want to consider flying down for a three weekend if there is one during his time there?

Mandy asks…

Is Aspen Chase apartments in San Antonio Texas a safe area?

2447 Harry Wurzbach

thats the address and iv never been to texas so i dont know the areas that well im trying to find a safe area to live in thats near Fort Sam Houston

Administrator answers:

Try, but I woudln’t live there. The area around Ft. Sam can get pretty sketchy, especially the closer you get to the base. A nicer area would be to live closer to Alamo Heights off N. New Braunfels Ave. Most people commute from north of town, so ih 35 traffic is messy, but the nicer area is north of downtown.

Donna asks…

My sister wants to move to san antonio,TX is that a good place to live?

She is moving at the end of May to start school in the fall when should she start looking for jobs and filling out apartment applications? How is san antonio job market right now? How is the pay? She is my little sister and I just want to know she will be okay so please help me out on this one.

Administrator answers:

Yes it is. The weather is mild most of the year, the cost of living is reasonable, and there are a lot of things to do. The public school system, at least on the north side of town, is good. No state income tax either (although they make up for it in very high property taxes).

I have lived a lot of places, but I don’t think I would move from here.
