Your Questions About Cheap Apartments In California

Sharon asks…

Does anyone know of any dirt cheap apartments in California that arent completely surrounded by gang memebers?

2 maybe 3 people looking to live near the beach(if possible), and with a decent amount of job opportunities. Anything would be helpful(Websites, personal experiences, etc…)

Administrator answers:

Hard question…But there are affordable housing units in the city of Santa Monica. But you might have to be like a single mom or totally broke to qualify. But see about it. Theres one that is LEED certified, means very environmentally friendly. Its right by the promenade. Go check it out. I asked my office mate here and he couldnt think of any. He had a friend who lived in a duplex in Pismo Beach real cheap though. Its like 2 hours from LA, but your by the beach, its cheaper and no gangs. You ahve to work your way to the beach. Start in the hot smokey valley then move on up.

BUT….try roomates.com. Look for people renting out rooms in their house. You can set how much you want to rent and where. You might find what your looking for. I sure did. :) hope this helps! Good luck.

John asks…

Cheap apartments in california ?

Ok so I’m really thinking about moving to California by next summer and I want to be close to LA. And I was wondering if anyone knew and cheap apartments with the price range of $300-$500 .or $300-700 and I will have a roommate which is my best friend. So I will be just paying half But at the same time just in case me and her get into a bad altercation I want to be able to afford the apartment on my own .so can someone please help me?

Administrator answers:

If $700 is the top amount that you would want to pay for an apartment then you are out of luck. This is the cost of a room rental in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area.

The likely price of a rental unit in the Los Angeles/Long Beach area is in excess of $950.00 per month. These type rentals are not in the best areas of any city in the Los Angeles county area.

Web sites might be a good place to find an apartment or house to rent, if you want to go through the entire list to find one in your state and then city.

The best place to look for places to rent is to go to the yellow pages of your telephone book, look under property managers.

These individuals list properties for rent in certain areas, so make sure you select the areas in which you wish to rent.

Call several of the property managers listed there, tell them you want a list of properties that they have for rent. Some will fax, email or mail the list of local places to rent along with the address, number of bedrooms and bath rooms, amenities available, such as washer and dryers or gyms, the monthly rental of the unit. Most will include a rental application. These list will include the monthly rental required, if a lease or month to month agreement will be signed. They will also indicate if they will accept Section 8 vouchers. They will also indicate it they have disabled access, allow pets and if so the type allowed.

They might indicate a web site that you might visit to get their list of places to rent. It does not cost to get a rental list from a reputable property manager.

Some will require you to stop by their office and pick up the list. A lot of them post their list outside so the list are available 24/7 365.

Make sure you don’t fall for the scams and purchase a list as 70%-80% of these list are composed of free list they have compiled. They are not the property managers of any property in most instances.

You might also google Property managers in whatever city or community you want to live in and see what comes up. Again do not pay for this information as it is free from reliable property managers.

I hope this has been of some benefit to you, good luck.

Any cheap apartments anywhere in California, below the price of 1200 in a nice area?

Administrator answers:

You do understand that CA is a HUGE state, right? It’s larger than Germany or Italy.

Narrow it down and use some apartment search websites.

Linda asks…

Cheap apartments in Southern California?

I’m 18 and thinking about moving out next year.
Most apartments I’ve looked at online are way beyond what I can afford. Preferably near the LA – Irvine area… Does anyone know of a practical but affordable apartment complex or how I might go about finding one? (I will have a roommate so the cost would be1/2)

(I would be working 30 hours a week for around 9$ an hour.)
Thanks in advance :)

Administrator answers:

If you’re trying to not get too far out into the Riverside area, try looking around here: http://www.forrent.com/search-apartments-by-area/CA/Greater-Los-Angeles/Southeast-LA.php
There’s some in your price range, but not much. Just make sure to cross-reference them on http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/CA-Los-Angeles.html
