Sharon asks…

Would I end up homeless?

I’m a model.
I’m 16.
5’8″
100 lbs
Nice, outgoing personality
..I really want to live in New York. I hate school.

So here’s my plan:
Save up my money to about $8,000 (I’ll get a job when I get there, maybe as a waitress at some fancy restaurant)
Buy a plane ticket to NYC
Get there
(Hotel until then) Rent an apartment for a little while
Walk in some fashion show (I’m a model and I know agents in NYC. So when I get there I’ll just rent a hotel room, go to the agency, and try to get into the first fashion show available.)
Meet some rich guy after the fashion show
go home with him
live with him (until I can make it on my own)

Well, honestly, I think this plan is flawless. Guys tell me I’m gorgeous all the time. Example: Right now I have an after school job waitressing at a diner and yesterday this man (in town for a business trip, rich, good looking, etc.) left me a $150 tip with his phone number. He looked like Lance Gross (google him). So yeah, those things happen to me all the time ..So I’m pretty sure they’ll happen to me in New York as well.

But what do you guys think? I think it’ll work, but I need other peoples opinion…Ending up as a homeless new yorker is my worst nightmare!!!!

Thanks ;)

Administrator answers:

Guys think 5’8,” 100 pounds is gorgeous? Oh my goodness.

Anyways, if you think the plan can work for you, go for it. I think it’s great. ^___^

Administrator answers:

Going to be homeless…probably not…going to go to hell….probably. You’re a retard, get an education and actually do something for society. Your looks wont last forever and im sure ur not the first retard with that genius plan. Your brains(if you have any) will lead you to a much more fullfilling life than your body will. Plenty of pretty girls out there.

Richard asks…

What do you think of the first chapter…?

Its kinda long but still what do you think? Please constructive criticism not something like it sucks like tell me why it sucks and how to perfect it…its my first novel I’ve written stories before but not novels. Thanks

Jennifer Tames was a 5’6 all American girl from New-York. Her sister Amy was recently diagnosed with leukemia. At age 11 it was a lot for a young girl of 11 years. Jennifer was 16 and her long time dream was to get good grade’s and get into Harvard to become a lawyer. Her mother was a Latin-looking model who made millions by the minute.

Jennifer was usually left alone with her sister for week’s even months at a time in a big, empty apartment. A friend of her mom’s, Candice, came to check up on them two or three times a week.

Jennifer spent a lot of time in front of the mirror comparing herself to petite girls, like her mom. Her mom pressured Jennifer a lot to lose weight. Jennifer was 5’6 after all and weighed in at about 126 which in her mother’s eyes was overweight.

Jennifer along side her mother and sister, Amy, lived on the top floor of 172 West Houston Street. It was a modern styled place with windows all over. Often when her mom was gone, like most teens with celebrity parents, had out of control parties with her enthusiastic friend, Charmaine. Jennifer would constantly receive complains from the floor underneath her, for the insanely loud, outrageous, parties.

Mrs. Jenckins, the 68 year old ex- Broadway star who also lived in 172 West Houston Street, downtown New York. Mrs. Jenckins was usually known as Dayna or Daisy. She was the type of old lady who reeked of cheap perfume and always had a think layer of heavily packed on makeup of neon colors and deep red or bright pink lipstick. She dressed herself up in black leather pants and shirts that weren’t anywhere near suitable for a 68 year old woman. She was also the type that complained about little creeks or fallen china-ware. Dayna also hated Jennifer and Charmaine with a great passion. Charmaine often said it was because they were young and gorgeous, and she was old, saggy and wrinkly.

Jennifer’s young sister Amy was an eleven year old blonde with green eyes who was put into the hospital for leukemia. Jennifer was the one who rushed her to the hospital after she had fainted for the second time in the same week. She had also looked extremely frail and weak. Coco never seemed to really care about her daughters. When Amy was diagnosed with leukemia she hadn’t even thought once about coming home to help Amy cope. Then again both her daughters were apparent “accidents” which Jennifer refused to believe because her father had passed away from a tragic car accident which led to the unexpected death. He passed away just six months before the birth of the one and only Amy Tames.

Jennifer had gotten into her weekly fight with her mom.
“I want you to come home! I’m sick of it, you never come home and when you do it’s to give me shit for having parties!” Jennifer screamed through her new glammed out Sidekick.
“That’s not true! You’re acting like a big baby! You are constantly arguing with me! That’s it this is my final conclusion you’re grounded for the whole week. Is that clear?”
“Not really! I mean you’re never home and to consider it’s really stupid! It wouldn’t make any difference if you were here or not!” Jennifer was screaming to the point of popping veins.
“Well then…Let me work my magic!” Coco replied somewhat calmly.
“What magic? You have no magic!” Jennifer said trying to gain a respectful tone in her angry voice.
“Just watch.” Coco retaliated.
“Well I have to go. I got to go to the hospital to visit your daughter. Remember?” Jennifer said as she quickly hung up her phone still angry that her mother clearly didn’t care. It wasn’t a surprise to Jennifer considering the fact that she and Amy were both “accidents” but Jennifer really knew the truth.

Charles asks…

Would I be a good “parent” to a Doberman puppy?

I plan on moving to New York or Boston after college, and don’t plan on getting married or having kids anytime soon. Looking for a little companionship in a new city, I decided what I would do is get a puppy. I’ve grown up with dogs, so I’m not a first time dog-owner (though this would be the first dog I’ve bought/owned/trained independently). I’m particularly interested in Dobermans. My home has a German Shepherd, so I’m partial to dogs that are loyal, intelligent, family-friendly, protective… The Doberman seems to have all these qualities, plus being gorgeous! Also, they’re short haired and seem more low-maintenance grooming-wise than my Shepherd.

I’ve done most of my homework about the breed itself, and have a few questions.

Would Boston or New York be too cold for the Dobe? I hear that they don’t do too well in cold cold weather.

Also, I’d probably be living in an apartment. I’d make sure to walk my baby twice daily, as we do with my Shepherd, but don’t know if not having a fenced-in-yard is a deal-breaker.

And also, I hear that Dobes are a bit … not hard to train, but they are a handful. I want to do right by my dog, whatever dog I get… At home we’ve been a little on the lenient side with my Shepherd, and I’m worried that the dog will take over the job of Alpha from me.

Thoughts?

Administrator answers:

Dobermanns can be extremely hard to train *if* they don’t respect you. As a junior, between 9 ~ 18 months old, your hitherto obedient Dobermann is likely to decide to see if you really mean what you say & test the boundaries. This stage does pass, but can be very trying.

Your Dobermann *must* know its place in the pack & that’s at the bottom. If your Dobermann detects any leniency, inconsistency in maintaining the boundaries of acceptable behaviour, it will be perceived as weak leadership & your Dobermann will not respect you.

As Dobermann are a sensitive breed, but with very much a mind of their own, as an owner you should be firm, but never harsh, consistent & fair & remember to be as quick to praise when you Dobermanns obeys your commands, as you are to punish.

The UK Dobermann Club does not recommend castration until the dog is at least 18 months old, as it may hinder its physical development.
Join your local Dobermann club if there is one close by. A fantastic source of information & some hold training sessions.

If you buy a fleece dog coat & if it’s icy, a pair of sturdy dog boots, your Dobermann should be fine.

Donald asks…

Looking After a Two-Year-Old?

On Tuesday, my gorgeous niece Emily will be coming over from Tucson to stay with me in New York for 8 days, whilst my sister and brother-in-law take a well-deserved vacation. I have obviously scheduled the time off work so I don’t have to worry about taking her to a creche or playgroup. My sister has prepared a little notebook for me on what Emily likes/dislikes, bed time, bath time etc. I know the basics, but I’m just looking for some general help really. For example, what does a 2 year-old girl like to do during the day? What can she eat, what can’t she eat etc?

Thanks in advance,

Riley.

P.S – Should I “toddler-proof” my apartment?

Administrator answers:

Toddler proofing is vital, urgent, life saving! Start now, it takes ages, once you think it’s done, start over, only this time go over your whole apartment on your stomach and knees (sounds stupid, but it’s the best way). Then you will see all the things you’ve missed.

Ask for a list of food from the parents now, so you have time to shop before they arrive.

She will bring lots of toys with her, no doubt, but what she will need lots and lots and lots of is attention and conversation. Read to her too, don’t worry about it being kiddies books, read her poetry, read her Little Women or Jane Austen or What Katy Did, she will just love being read to.

Get as much sleep as you can while you can before she arrives, also, nap when she does, it will help you keep up her in the afternoons!

Enjoy, be kind, remember always that every good experience she has at her age makes a difference to her. Don’t forget, at two they want to do everything, for themselves, but can’t. This makes them miserable and unhappy and frustrated. If she gets into, or even near tantrum mode, distract her, but do NOT bribe her, so it’s ok to draw her attention to something else and speak to her quietly (so she quietens down to hear you) but not to offer her candy or treats of any sort to behave.

Sandy asks…

Can I get some advice?

Good morning! I am working on an adventure fiction short story for my literacy class, and I was wondering if you could help me out a bit? Just let me know what I should change. Thanks!

“Hello?” Maggie answered the phone. Esther took her out to dinner while Maggie came to visit her in New York. They were at Esther’s favorite restaurant, Daniel, in Manhattan. Esther was annoyed that Maggie would answer her phone while they were at a gorgeous restaurant, spending time together. They rarely saw each other. But Maggie kept on talking.
“Rhonda…when?” Esther looked puzzled. She wanted to yell “Mags, what is going on?”, But she didn’t because she didn’t want to be recognized…she was the editor of Vogue, after all. She gave her a dirty look, but Maggie ignored and kept on talking.
“Who could have killed him?” Maggie asked impatiently. Now Esther was really confused. Maggie abruptly hung up the phone.
“Mags, what is going on?” Esther asked.
“Juan…he’s dead. And Jooty shot him.” Maggie said dryly. Esther looked like someone had slapped her in the face. But in a way, those words slapped her harder than anything else could. Juan was Maggie’s husband. How could Jooty ever kill him? She knew how much Juan meant to her.
“I….I….I just….Jooty? How could she….” Esther’s voice trailed off. Jooty was their other third. She had been friends with them since middle school, that’s why Esther was so confused. How could someone who knew them so well do the worst thing on earth, murder?
“Look, you can finish your meal…I need to get back to my hotel. I’ll call you later.” Maggie said, turning slightly green.
“Okay, Mags, I’ll talk to you soon.” Esther needed some time to think, and so she stayed.
Esther finished her meal, politely tipped the waiter, and walked out to her car. She was devastated. She would go insane if Alex died, so who could imagine what Maggie was feeling?
Esther opened the door to her apartment. Looking around, it felt empty and cold. She tore off her coat a collapsed into the leather couch. She clutched a pillow and cried, and cried. For once in her life, she wasn’t working. And another first…she fell asleep without thinking.
The loud ring of her cell phone woke her up, leaving her feeling dazed. She knew who it was.
“Maggie…how are you?” Esther said, trying to sound like she was awake.
“I’m alright. I stayed up all night trying to figure out where Jooty might be. And I found her…she’s in France, living with our friend Julie…remember her? I tracked her cell phone down…it wasn’t hard. Anyways, I’m leaving a bit later this morning. I don’t want to bother you to come…” Esther realized what she meant. Leaving New York City was like comitting suicide. She couldn’t leave without having tons of work to come back to. But Esther had to…it wasn’t a choice at this point. She needed to talk to Jooty.
“I’ll be there…don’t worry about it. I’ll have Gabriella do the work…she’ll be fine, I trust her.” Esther said quickly, not wanting to change her mind…because she knew she probably would.
“Okay, Esther. I’ll see you at ten sharp. Meet me at the Manhattan Air Port…I’ve booked a flight.”
Esther was scared. She knew if she found Jooty…that meant their friendship would be over. Completely over. And Esther wasn’t ready for that.
But she had to be.

Thank you so much! Again, I haven’t really edited it that much, so if you want to change something, please let me know! I need critsism, don’t hold back!

George asks…

If I became a RN would I be able to afford Brooklyn, New York?

Hey my uncle use to live in Brooklyn awhile ago. His rent was 1500 a month it was a one bed room apartment it was gorgeous. He lived there for years. He had a GF but they did not live together.

I’m currently going to college in Baltimore, Maryland and will be entering the nursing program a year from now if I get these required classes out the way. I’m 19 by the way.

So will I be able to live there. I like it there. I do not want children. Finding a woman who doesn’t want children is slim.

Thanks for answering.

Administrator answers:

An R.N makes quite a hefty sum of money. I don’t see why Brooklyn should be hard to afford for a single young male.

Administrator answers:

(None of the above) You shouldn’t have lied about where you were going. What if something happened to one of your children. You shouldn’t be in that situation where temptation could out way your morals as a Mother and Significant Other. Now if you are tempted to do 2-5 you should get out of that situation and get your head together. Start fresh, use your head and do not jump right back into another relationship. No I’m not miss goody two shoes and your not the only one in this equation. What about the kids, What about Boyfriend. I do know that I have too much pride. Having morals are important especially when you lay your head down to sleep and the only thing you can do is kick your own a** for screwing up something that probably wasn’t so bad after all. No man comes before my children. There is not a piece of a** in this world worth my life.
