Linda asks…

is anyone here from NY ( state) or NYC ?

just out of curiosity

i live in NYc for like at least 5 years
i lived in Greenpoint and Williamsburg ( in Brooklyn) but now i live kinda on the edge between Middle Village and Ridgewood( Queens)

also what schools did you / or do you still attend ??
( im not a stalker)

i was in Liberty High School its on the E18th street
and i was also a student in Grover Cleveland High School in Ridgewood
now i go to school in Sunset Park ,
the thing that annoys me about Glendale and Maspeth as well is that there is no train going there so you have to take those crowded god damned buses in order to get anywhere

Sandra asks…

Average cost to start up a restaurant near NYC?

I would like to start up a small breakfast spot. Eventually, I want it to be a 24 hour place. I live in Queens and want my restaurant to be in a fairly nice area…jackson heights, middle village, forest hills, astoria, sunnyside, long island city..those are all acceptable. I’m not looking for anything more than 2,500 sq. ft. I just want it in a place with a decent amount of foot traffic. I do NOT wish to take out a loan, so I’m wondering what range is reasonable when opening a breakfast place. I was guessing that a cushion of $75,000 may be needed.

Administrator answers:

I live in queens too, your severely mistaken if you think a $75,000 cushion is enough…it’s closer to $750,000

the taxes are ridiculously high…24/7 for a BREAKFAST spot ?….no freaking way

get a spot at the queens-mall….you’ll see how hard it REALLY is

Mandy asks…

New York City affordability?

I’m originally from Queens, my parents moved upstate and I miss the city, and I’m looking to move back. If I make $50,000, and my wife is making $50,000-$60,000 a year would we be able to live comfortably in Queens. Which means putting a down payment down on a house, rather then renting all our life having money to spend on different types of entertainment etc. I know I would have to rent for a little while, but in the future when we are getting ready to settle down and start a family would we have enough? I was from Middle Village, so I would love to move back there, or the surrounding area. (Glendale, Maspeth, Forest Hills). Please let me know what you think based on what prices and salaries are like now down there. Thanks.
I have no debt at the moment, I have a credit card but pay it off monthly, and I’m thinking about taking a small student loan out. That’s about the only debt I can think of.

Administrator answers:

Depending on your debt, if your debt is really, really low (like $200 a month total), you could afford close to a $420K house comfortably.
If you have more debt, I would go down significantly in price- anywhere from $200-$350K. I don’t know what kind of house you’ll find for that price. I doubt you would like it.

Here’s a tip. If it’s cheaper to stay Upstate- then do so. I would rather have money than be in a place that is expensive to live. You can always take vacations.

Sandy asks…

What do you think of the little village in the olympics?

its ment to be ‘eco’ .. If im honest i dont see the point, it doesnt seem amazing O-o or make us proud… I think we should get the Queen or someone we actually respect in the middle

what are your opinions?

Administrator answers:

It’ll only be part of the celebration,as we can’t possibly compete with the bejiing games for multiple co-ordinated groups of thousands,it will be more in keeping with a show of what it means to be british.IE,umbrellas, royals, cricket on village green, morris dancing, pubs, gardening.chasing fox’s,moaning about bloody foreigners, slagging off the french…(sorry frogs),
BTW i’m irish.

Steven asks…

Could you lend me a character or two?

I like my title: “Could you lend me a character or two?”
It’s kinda cute.
Anyway, I’m 13 years old and my friends and I are doing Young Writer’s Project: NaNoWriMo, or National Novel Writing Month. It’s during the whole of November. We set our word goals, which is a number of words that we have to write, or more. I set mine to 10,000 words in one month. Now this is going to be hard, and as it is, I’m having trouble coming up with character names.
For myself only, could you copy and paste this format to fill out the names? Thanks!
Oh yeah, if it’s a place, it’s still a name. But not a character.

Nice principal who does his best for the middle schoolers:
Mother of main character who tries to do her best, but is usually tired, always working:
Father of main character, always working:
Main character, female, 14 years old and usually gets straight A’s, but then realizes that grades aren’t her life. By this, she goes on an adventure to find out that what Ms. Florence believes is true:
Snotty boy at school:
Best friend of the main character, male or female, or both:
A boy who likes to hang around the main character:
A ghost (either gender, please say) the main character meets on her adventure, and tries to stay away from:
An evil thing (please say gender and what it is) that causes problems:
A little magical village:
The middle school she goes to:
The town she lives in:
A forest she lives by:
A street she walks by in the town she lives in:
Her pet’s name (only one, please say what it is, what gender and name):
Her sibling’s name (please say how many, gender, age, possibly personality and name):

Thanks, again… best answer to anyone that I use the MOST information from.
Vote for other ones that you like and such, thanks.

As for before, I had a question just like this. I HAVE AN IMAGINATION!
I have only ONE month to write this. I
have only 10% done, and I started it TODAY.
I am suffering writer’s block and I can’t get past nearly 1,200 words, so pleeeeaaaase try to help me out here. At least answer three, okay? I really need a principal’s name, a main character name, and the mother’s name at this point. Somehow I was able to make it through 1,000 words without really saying any names, but now I am seriously revealing some mysteries.
Can you help me out here?

Thanks a lot, person who told me, “You have an imagination. Use it.” It didn’t at all get me past the piece where…
An icy hand tightly wrapped itself around my wrist, cutting off circulation. Ms. Florence gave me a stare as cold as her fingers. “(Main character’s name), you’re coming with me to visit Principal (name)’s office this instant.
A lump formed in my throat as she stomped her black high-heeled shoes towards thw doorway, yanking me behind her. I twisted and turned my hand in her freezing fist, my other hang holding my crumpled piece of paper. As much as I resisted, she pulled me along, and I could almost here the screeching of my soles against the glossy tiles. The end for me was near, and everything I could ever hope for was lost.

Okay, so you can tell that the main character really hasn’t gotten into trouble at all in her years of schooling, and she’s a bit of a drama queen. That’s why she has to go through this whole series of events to realize what’s truly important.
SERIOUSLY!!!
Someone found it interesting, but NO ONE answered! :’(
Nevermind. Someone answered.
To Jenna Lalap:
Sweet ideas. ;) Sure I’ll tell you when I’m done… and I think yours is really, really good. I might want to leave out some details, and if you could make the magical village have an imaginary name, that’d be great. I’l mix and match some of your names, and maybe instead I’ll use Faith or something you would hear more about in-a-prophecy of something. Something old and beautiful. Something lost but found. I’ll figure something out. ;)
