Carol asks…

What Bus Would I Take To Get To 80 Metropolitan from Woodhaven Boulevard In Queens NY?

Anybody from Queens, or Woodhaven Boulevard know how to get to 80 Metropolitan. I don’t have a car, so I need to take the bus. I just don’t know the bus.

Administrator answers:

On the corner by the newsstand, on Metropolitan across from the bank is where you will get the #54 bus.

80 Metropolitan is actually a long ride away near the end in Williamsburg. 80th Street and Metropolitan is a five minute ride to the end of the cemetery into Middle Village.

Robert asks…

What business to be open in Woodhaven, Queens?

When I walked down the Jamaica Avenue, it looks this neighborhood has every retail stores I can think of.

Administrator answers:

You are the only one that can figure that out as every situation is unique. You need to find an unmet need that is also something you like to do. Complete a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) analysis and write a business plan to prove that the business idea is workable. Go to or for instructions on how to write a business plan and sample business plans.

Daniel asks…

how can i get to floyd bennett field by public transportation from woodhaven queens?

Administrator answers:

Take the Q53 (or the Q21 if the Q53 is too crowded and you can’t fit on) to Beach 116th Street and then take the Q35 to Floyd Bennett Field.

I hope this information was very helpful.

Betty asks…

Is woodhaven queens a safe area?

Im moving from Bayridge Brooklyn to Queens, woodhaven blvd and parklane south st. How is that area in terms of saftey? Is it pretty safe at night to walk around? Any info would be great. Thanks

Administrator answers:

It’s an okay neighborhood, but I wouldn’t consider it anywhere near as nice or as safe as Bay Ridge, It can get a bit sketchy at night in areas like Jamaica Ave. And the J train sometimes has some riff-raff on it. It’s definitely not immune from crime, but I wouldn’t consider it terrible.

Come on people, write your own freakin answers. I;’m sick of seeing everything I write recycled by some of you.

Michael asks…

A cab from queens woodhaven to hackensack NJ ?

How much will a cab cost and do u know any?

Administrator answers:

Most NYC yellow cabs will take you to Hackensack, but it won’t be cheap. Since it’s outside the city, you’ll need to negotiate a price when you get into the cab, expect between $75 and $100. You could call a car service (easy to Google) which might be a little cheaper.

The normal way to get there would be to take the J subway to Broadway Jct, change for the A to the Port Authority Bus Terminal ($2.25), then a NJ Transit bus #165 to Hackensack ($4.25).

Lisa asks…

Woodhaven, NY (Queens)- is it a good neighborhood?

I am thinking of moving there near Woodhaven Blvd by Forest Park—- is it a nice, safe neighborhood? What types of people live there?

Administrator answers:

If you are near the Park it is A OK. I Lived in Glendale on the other side of the Park (Myrtle ave) years ago. I had a friend in the area on the other side and it was nice. That was a number of years ago, but I anticipate that it is better even better now than it was then.

Go visit, and you will like it. Oh yea one more thing. I understand that Zum Stumphdsch. Restaurant Is still on Myrtle ave . This a very old German neighborhood with a few surviving places. Hmmmm the Sauerbrautin.

One other item. There is a Carousel in Forest Park that many years ago (my 19 yr old daughter was 3 at the time) the community raised funds to repair. Turned out that the Carousel Animals were crafted by German Masters and each was priceless. Many of the artist who did the repairs did it a cut rate because it was soooo valuable. That Carousel is a Jem and so was that community.

Nancy asks…

Travelling from Woodhaven Blvd, Queens to NYC?

I am staying at Pan American Hotel in Queens for five days next month. I was wondering what the best way to travel into NYC and see all of the main sites? The nearest subway is Woodhaven Bvld, which I am told is on IND Queens Boulevard line.

Any help would be appreciated!

Administrator answers:

My friend, the hotel in questioned is a ten minute walk from the Grand Avenue subway (underground) station on the “R” and “M” Lines (Yellow and Orange Line on the subway map), which is the IND Queens Blvd Line. You can take either line into Manhattan from there.

The link below show the walking directions from the hotel to the Grand Avenue subway station.

Please Note: Queens Blvd is a major 10 lane roadway. Precaution should be taken when crossing the street to and from the subway, as car can speed by up to 35 MPH (56 km/h).

I hope this information was very helpful. If you have any questions or need travel directions while in town, just drop me a line by clicking on the avatar and e-mail icon in the profile. I’ll be glad to help.

Good luck
