Your Questions About Cheap One Bedroom Apartments

March 25, 2012

Helen asks…

How much would a one bedroom apartment in NY cost in the mid 60′s?

I need to know for a book I’m writing. Please, I need a price. It would have been a very cheap, one bedroom place. It can be in midtown, downtown or uptown. Any idea?

Administrator answers:

I think the subway fare back then was $0.15, compared to $2.25 now, so about 1/15 the current price. So say a place in Upper Manhattan costs $1,500 now, so it would be around $100 back in the 1960s.

I hope this information was very helpful.

Ruth asks…

I’m looking for a cheap, decent apartment in The Woodlands or Conroe area?

My boyfriend and I have been looking for apartments to move into but are having a difficult time. We need a one bedroom apartment with a washer and dryer for cheap. I’m hoping for a safe area as well since it’s just the two of us. One that allows animals is preferable but not necessary.
Can anybody help?

Administrator answers:

You’re going to have to do some online research and figure out what is the best option for you. There are tons of apartments in the area you mentioned. Not sure you’re going to find what you want for “cheap” though unless your definition of “cheap” is $800+ dollars.

Conroe would be less expensive than The Woodlands. You might call an apartment finder service and see what they suggest. They are good resources.
