Laura asks…

San Francisco Area – Looking for an apartment near BART?

I will be moving to San Francisco by the end of Feb. I don’t want to live in the city, I am looking to rent an apartment along the BART subway line, preferably less than 10min walk. I would like the train commute be 30 – 40min. My budget is $1000 – 1200, for a 1-bed room or a decent sized studio. Any suggestions?

Administrator answers:

Check Daly City, Berkeley, San Leandro, and the Lake Merritt area of Oakland.

John asks…

Renting another unit in my building (in San Francisco)?

I’ve been in my current apartment (a studio) for 2 years. A 1 bedroom has opened up in my building. I’ve heard that residents in larger apartment buildings can move to another unit and still pay the same amount of rent. Even if it’s larger. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where that’s stated?

Administrator answers:

No where. Once you change address you also change lease. You will have to pay current fair market rent for the new apartment.
